Manufacturing Global Competency
The story of Titan Metal Works Sdn Bhd starts with current General Manager, Danny’s father. After being bitten by the entrepreneurship bug, he incorporated TITAN to produce motorcycle parts in 1991. His competency and excellent eye for producing quality parts soon helped to expand TITAN towards manufacturing automotive parts a few years down the road.
At this point, Danny was shadowing his father, learning the tricks of the trade while studying to be an engineer. Yet, it was not just his eye for quality that he picked up, but a zeal for constant innovation and progression. It’s this zeal for progress that TITAN clients and partners love about them the most.
Getting Recognised
Together, both father and son soon worked their way to ISO 9001:2000 Certification. Creating custom in-house tooling design and fabrication processes to enhance both their standards, quality and deliverables. However, this wasn’t enough. After a few years of creating and refining proper systems, refining their manufacturing processes, streamlining their quality and efficiency, they got TITAN an automotive standard TS 16949 (now recognized as IATF 16949).
The TS 16949 certification was a game-changer. Proving to the local competitors that globally recognised standards were the way forward towards customer satisfaction and assurance. But, once again, this did not mean TITAN sat on their laurels.
Continuously Improving
TITAN worked to enhanced their tooling design capabilities further. In addition, they never stopped improving, finding ways to go digital while re-certifying for ISO 9001:2008 and TS 16949:2009 to ensure they kept their global standards.
In the years to come, under Danny’s leadership, they introduced in-house pneumatic Bending Machines to help customers to launch their product at lower cost and shorter development time. TITAN also adopted a mechanised process to improve productivity and product quality further.
Going Asia Pacific
The snowball of continuous improvements eventually won them an appointment as an approved manufacturer by an automotive component company for the Asia Pacific region. In typical TITAN fashion, the company celebrated by focusing inward, expanding their manufacturing scope to now include CNC hydraulic rolling machine.
Soon, they re-certified again for ISO 9001:2015 and IATF: 16949:2016 to ensure they are up to date when it comes to meeting global standards. This time, TITAN expanded their manufacturing scope to include Class A Appearance parts.
A True Journey Of Innovation
Everything TITAN does is an example of continuous improvement for the customer. The company discovered very early on that the quality and efficiency of their parts and manufacturing are what clients want. However, to go beyond simply keeping current customers happy, they had to look ahead.
By focussing on providing innovative solutions for their customers and ensuring their capabilities match their manufacturing capability, efficiency and quality, only can TITAN truly be a titan in the automotive metal parts and assemblies industry.
